Kristin Þóra Haraldsdóttir

Kristin Þóra Haraldsdóttir is a composer, performer and improviser. She is interested in the physicality of sound and body, exploring sensations through gesture and touch, field recordings and unusual tunings. Kristín has written for chamber groups, soloists, dance, short film, her self and two works for orchestra. As a performer, Kristín has premiered several works for solo viola, including new music theatre. She is an explorative improviser and has lent her voice and viola playing to numerous records. Her first solo album, released by VDSQ Records in '16, focuses on solo guitar and field recordings. Kristín studied viola performance and composition at Iceland Academy of the Arts and holds an MFA in performance/composition form California Institute of the Arts.
